“HOPE never dies,” says the postcard in the reception area of The Midland Hotel.
If 99 per cent of the world’s population had been killed by a flu virus, would there be hope for you? Would you help others, or grab a gun?
Those questions continue in the second series of hit TV drama Survivors, which returns tomorrow night in the wake of the real life swine flu pandemic.
The fictional story so far: Food and water are in short supply, with no electricity, gas, communications, medical care, police or government.

The post-apocalyptic drama Survivors returns this week, with the cast and crew counting themselves fortunate that 2009's swine flu outbreak didn't wreck the making of the second series.
"Amazingly, we were filming in the Midlands where all the swine flu was happening," says actress Julie Graham, who plays the heroine Abby Grant.
